North Korea-related diplomatic conflict and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister's visit to South Korea

Andrey Rudenko, the deputy foreign minister of Russia, is in South Korea to talk about bilateral relations and the conflict in Ukraine. Both nations are closely monitoring North Korea, which is armed with nuclear weapons.

Andrey Rodenko, Russia's deputy foreign minister and coordinator for Asia-Pacific issues, met with Chung Byung-won, the foreign minister of South Korea, the Foreign Ministry of Seoul said in a statement.

Chung Byung-won encouraged Russia to take appropriate action and conveyed South Korea's serious concerns about Russia's growing military cooperation.

He paid the visit following remarks made by Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, asserting that the US and its allies—South Korea and Japan among them—are mostly to blame for the rising levels of tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The Russian spokesman's remarks coincided with accusations from South Korea, the US, and South Korea's president Yoon Seok-yul that little Korea is the only one and that North Korea was giving Russia lethal weapons in the conflict with Ukraine.  a nation where it is legal to deploy nuclear bombs as a preventative measure.

Claiming that Seoul "doesn't feel that America's dominant position is slowly eroding," he called the South Korean president's words "biased" and cautioned that Seoul was "aware of Washington's geopolitical wisdom."  It will remain anecdotal in practice.

Russian ambassador has been summoned by South Korea

Calling the Russian charge "ignorant," South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador to voice its concerns.

Russia's relations with Pyongyang have grown closer since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, despite accusations from the US and South Korea that North Korea is arming Russia for the conflict. This year, North Korea labeled South Korea as its "enemy" and vowed to go to war over even the smallest infringement on its territory.
