Japan is planning to introduce a 6-month digital nomad visa program.
Keep in mind that the term digital nomad is used for people who work from home or elsewhere while staying away from the office.
Japan's Immigration Services Agency has announced that the Digital Nomad Visa Program will be launched at the end of March 2024.
Under this program, those wishing to obtain a Japanese resident visa must have an annual income of at least $67,557.
This visa will be for people from 49 countries and territories.
But the details of these countries or regions cannot be revealed yet.
Along with income, private health insurance will also be required for those who wish.
Under this program, those who get a visa to Japan will also be able to bring their spouse and children there.
According to Japanese media, holders of digital nomad visas will not be issued permanent residence cards while their stay period will not be immediately extended.
These persons will have to return to their country after 6 months after which they will be offered a visa again.
It may be noted that Japan has announced that it is considering introducing a digital nomad visa program in 2023, the details of which have now been released.
