The aircraft shifted course due to the pilots' simultaneous sleep attacks throughout the Indonesian journey, but thankfully no serious accidents occurred.

On January 25, 2024, Batik Airlines Flight ID6723, which was traveling from Sulawesi in northern Indonesia to Jakarta, the country's capital, had an incident.

The plane flew without a pilot for 28 minutes, according to the preliminary investigation of the event, which was just made public. The pilots on the trip were 32 and 28 years old.

According to the investigation, the pilot requested the first officer whether she may go to sleep as soon as the plane reached the top of the sky at around 08:37 local time. The pilot nodded, and the first officer assumed charge of the pilot's duties for the following forty minutes while keeping in touch with air traffic control.

Later on, he too unintentionally slept off. He then lost communication with air traffic control, and the aircraft—which carried 153 passengers and 4 crew members—operated without a pilot for 28 minutes.

It was said that when the pilot's eyes were opened, it was found that the plane was not in the right direction, after which he picked up the colleague and responded to air traffic control. He justified that there was some problem with his radio, due to which he could not respond.
