Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has been teasing the building of a ship modeled like the Titanic for over ten years.
In 2012 and 2018, the development of Titanic 2 was originally revealed. They have now declared that they will resume this project after a six-year break.
He made this announcement at a Sydney press conference. He stated that the project would be finished in 2016 when he originally announced it in 2012, but it never materialized.
When construction on it resumed later in 2018, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a further halt to the project. The chairman of Blue Star Line, Clive Palmer, has sued the federal and state governments of Australia over border controls during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Clive Palmer made the following announcement on the Titanic 2 production: "After a long delay, we are delighted to announce that the dream of making Titanic 2 a reality is about to come true."
Although the completion date of the ship has not yet been disclosed by Clive Palmer, it is anticipated that construction will start in the first quarter of 2025. He continued by saying that the ship will be somewhat broader than the original Titanic, measuring 269 meters long by 32.2 meters wide.
The ship will have nine decks with 835 rooms to accommodate 2345 guests at a time. It should be remembered that on its first voyage in 1912, the Titanic, the biggest ship ever built, sank in the ocean after colliding with an iceberg.
At a depth of 12,500 feet, the wreckage of this ship is still visible in the Atlantic Ocean.
People all throughout the world were reminded of the catastrophe by filmmaker James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster.
According to Clive Palmer, he believed that Titanic 2 would contribute to global peace and that it would escape any misfortune.
