In response to hacks that target the SPD, the defense industry, and the technological sector in 2023, Germany has called in a senior Russian diplomat. APT28, a hacker collective associated with Russian military intelligence, is believed to have carried out the operations, which took use of a Microsoft Outlook vulnerability to breach corporate systems.
The attacks have been called "absolutely intolerable and unacceptable" by German officials, who have also announced repercussions. Germany is committed to taking decisive action in response to cyber threats, as are the EU and NATO.
Cyberattacks ascribed to the Russian hacker collective APT28, which is connected to Russian military intelligence, have been denounced by Germany. Germany has called on Russia's envoy to voice its worries and disapproval of the cyberattacks.
Germany has received backing from the European Union and NATO, which have declared they would not tolerate Russia's hostile actions in cyberspace. In order to demonstrate its commitment to defending national security as well as the security of its partners within the EU and NATO against cyber threats, the EU has already imposed penalties on the people and organizations accountable for the APT28 assaults.
