Google Search will now make it easier to identify AI images.

Google has announced a new feature for its search engine to help users understand how a particular piece of content was created and how it was further modified.

The purpose of this feature is to prevent the spread of misleading content based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology in search engines. According to the company, this new feature will be available to users in the next few months and will use the existing content screening guidelines.

Under these guidelines, AI-generated or edited images will be labeled so that users know their authenticity. The image will be accompanied by other details such as when, where and how it was created and its source. According to the company, through the About Image option in Google Search, users will be able to see whether the image is created by AI or not.

Surprisingly, the label on an AI-generated image will be hidden in the about image, meaning it won't be on top of the image, you'll have to find it yourself. Previously, Google along with Amazon, Adobe and Microsoft became members of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA).

The purpose of creating C2PA is also to prevent the spread of misleading AI content and to develop a new standard for it. The purpose of this standard is to help users find the source of various media files.
